New project sets out to enable circular household consumption

Last week was the launch for a new European project with the goal to empower households to reduce food waste and extend fashion’s lifespan. Christian Fuentes, Emma Samsioe and Réka Ines Tölg from the Department of Service Studies participates in the project.

CARE is a new and innovative Horizon Europe project committed to enabling circular consumption and combatting climate change by transforming 100 households across Europe by 2027. Centered on reshaping daily habits, specifically in the realms of food and fashion, CARE collaborates closely with citizens, providing personalised, inclusive, and complimentary advisory services to foster circular consumption practices.

– Last week we had a kick-off meeting for the project in Tampere in Finland. Here, all partners participated and we began our work with the various activities in the project. Among other things, work began with planning for interventions and advisory services, but also the communication work around the project's goals started, says Emma Samsioe.

The Circular consumption Activities to tRansform households toward material Efficiency (CARE) project is carried out by eleven consortium partners: Tampere University Foundation, Ekokumppanit Oy, Oslomet - Storbyuniversitetet, Asker kommune, Lunds Universitet, IVL Svenska Miljoeinstitutet AB, Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production, Die Verbraucher Initiative e.V., Lääne-Harju Vallavalitsus, Teeme Ara Sihtasutus, and Universitaet für Bodenkultur Wien. The project is active until 2027.
