What Emelie says about the Master's in Service Management, Sustainable Service Management
Emelie from Sweden
What is the best thing about your programme?
For me, the best thing about my programme is that it is very broad, while still offering the opportunity to specialize within the area that you are interested in. You can really find your own niche within the programme, opening up for loads of opportunities when you graduate.
Why did you choose the specialisation in Sustainable Service Management?
I chose it partly because I thought it would make a great complement to my bachelor’s, which was also within Service Management but with the specialisation Tourism & Hotel. Also, with the growing awareness of sustainability in our society, this specialisation felt very relevant in teaching how to implement sustainable strategies in the service industry.
What is the student life like in Helsingborg?
I love the student life in Helsingborg! Directly when I started my bachelor’s here, I started getting involved in everything and that has given me so many contacts and fun memories.
Agora (the Social Science Student Union for students in Helsingborg) arrange introduction activities in the beginning of every school year where you can meet future classmates and other people studying at Campus Helsingborg.
For after school activities, Stampus does a lot of things as well, hosting pubs, clubs and other fun activities. I would definitely recommend getting in contact with these organisations to get involved because it will definitely make your time in Helsingborg more enjoyable!
What do you plan to do after your studies?
I haven’t fully figured out where I will end up yet, but I am definitely able to keep my options open since the programme is broad and allows for me to apply for many different jobs after graduation.
Do you have any advice for students considering to study at Lund University and Campus Helsingborg?
Be prepared to read a lot, and that the LU way of studying might be different to what you are used to. But other than that, enjoy your time here and don’t forget to indulge in the many Swedish traditions, like for example fika (Swedes love their coffee breaks!).
