On 29 May, 290 doctoral graduates and 16 honorary doctors were conferred in hats and wreaths during Lund University’s grand ceremony, the doctoral degree conferment ceremony. Four doctoral graduates from the Department of Service Studies took part.

In a solemn ceremony at Lund Cathedral, the doctoral students who completed their doctoral studies in the past year and successfully defended their doctoral theses at Lund University then received their doctoral degree. At the ceremony, doctoral degrees were also conferred on the faculties’ honorary doctors. Doctors who completed their doctoral degrees 50 years ago became jubilee doctors.

From the Department of Service Studies, we were able to congratulate Marthe Nehl, Marcus Persson, Pernilla Danielsson and Annabell Merkel.

"I thought it was an extraordinary and fun thing to participate – very special. For me it was a great day! It feels extra special to have one’s defense day and doctoral degree conferment ceremony with one week apart", said Annabell Merkel who got her degree on 22 May.

“It was a long and special day, but that’s what makes the ceremony so memorable,” says Marcus Persson, who defended his thesis on 24 March. Marcus had the honour of delivering the doctoral response.
